Abstract
Diplomska naloga opisuje CSFB rešitev kot enega izmed načinov za zagotavljanje vodovno komutiranih klicev v omrežju LTE. Ker LTE omrežje temelji izključno na IP protokolu, je potrebna vpeljava dodatnega vmesnika, ki poskrbi za zaključevanje govornih klicev. V prvem delu je predstavljen razvoj mobilnih komunikacij ter smernice, ki jih narekujejo standardi. Vodovno komutirana omrežja danes v celoti zamenjujejo podatkovna paketna omrežja, kakršno je tudi LTE. Osrednji del naloge podrobneje opisuje LTE omrežje s pripadajočimi vmesniki ter CSFB rešitev, praktični del naloge pa se osredotoča na meritev zakasnitev, ki se pojavijo pri tovrstni rešitvi. Opisani so postopki meritev, merilna oprema ter analiza rezultatov. V zaključnem delu so podane metode in rešitve, ki pripomorejo k zmanjšanju zakasnitev oz. izboljšujejo sámo uporabniško izkušnjo pri umiku v vodovno komutirano omrežje. Čeprav CSFB rešitev prinaša določene zakasnitve, je ob ustrezni optimizaciji omrežja tovrsten vpliv dovolj majhen, da ga uporabnik običajno ne zazna.

Title:
LTE voice calls termination using circuit- switched fallback
Abstract:
The thesis describes CSFB as one of the possible solutions for providing circuit switched voice services in LTE network. Because LTE network is based only on IP protocol there is a need for additional interface to support termination of voice calls. The first part describes the history of mobile communications and trends that are driven by standards. Circuit switched networks are nowadays replaced by packet switched networks like LTE. The main part of the thesis provides detailed description of LTE network with associated interfaces and CSFB solution while empirical part is focused on measuring delays in call setup. Detailed description of measurement technique, measurement equipment and results is provided. Solutions for minimizing call setup delay and improving users experience in CSFB are given in the final part. CSFB adds certain delay which is acceptable and small enough that user is not perceiving it if network is correctly optimized.
