Abstract

Title:Remote control of a car model with a mobile phone
Abstract:
Devices controlled remotely, such as cars, boats, planes, and drones are becoming increasingly popular in both the professional sector and as a hobby. Low-end devices come with remote controllers that are normally immense, unwieldy, and only offer basic functions to its end-user. Due to their prevalence, smartphones offer simple and convenient substitutions for remote controllers and provide a framework for new, intuitive user interfaces. For the present thesis, a toy car that can be controlled by an Android smartphone was built. The Android application that uses a wireless network to connect to a Raspberry Pi platform has been developed specifically for this purpose. The present paper presents the process of planning and designing the remote control adaptation, reports the results, and offers suggestions for future implementations.
