The thesis describes the complete design and manufacturing process of a motorized loft ladder controller. The controller enables the user access to the loft only by pressing one of the OPEN or CLOSE buttons. It is described from initial idea, circuit design and manufacturing, assembly and final testing.
The product is divided into a controller board and one or more control panels connected to each other. There are two buttons on the control panel used for opening and closing, and LEDs for indicating motor states and errors. The controller board contains a microcontroller and drives the motors that move the ladder and a cover for attic. The microcontroller software was tested on a small model.
