Subject indexing of library material is done by librarians working under the influence of the dominant culture. As a result, there is a limited access to materials pertaining to socially excluded groups. Ten years ago, three bachelor's theses (Ivanič, 2006, Gromilić, 2006 in Štusej, 2007) researched the state of subject indexing of library material intended for three socially excluded groups (the gay and lesbian community, the Islamic community and the community of elderly library users). The purpose of this master's thesis is the analysis of the inclusion of these subjects in two different subject heading lists, as well as pointing out the terminological problems with subject indexing of these subjects, ten years after the initial researches. The current research includes the analysis of the subject headings gathered during the initial researches and checking their inclusion in Splošni slovenski geslovnik (SSG) and Splošni geslovnik COBISS.SI (SGC). The results show that, out of 555 subject headings, only 211 are included in the SSG and only 208 in the SGC; both subject heading lists include less than 40% of the subject headings. In addition, research shows that the subject headings included in the subject heading lists do not match the subject headings used by members of the researched socially excluded groups.
