The aim of the thesis was to create an outline plan to build a bicycle obstacle course on the terrain
formerly used by Trbovlje Hrastnik coalmine. First, a preliminary search for possible locations for the
course’s construction has been conducted. After the search, the most appropriate terrain for the bicycle
obstacle course has been chosen. The criteria for finding the optimal location were minimal building
expenses, minimal intervention in the area and sustainable construction.
After the location was chosen, geodetic measurements and geotechnical analysis of the location were
performed. The result of the geodetic measurements enabled to place the obstacle course in the area.
While the geotechnical analysis established, if the terrain is appropriate for the construction. With the
help of Sekopt d. o. o., a company from Trbovlje, the samples for the laboratory analysis were
gathered from two shafts.
The analysis on determining plastic limits, liquid limits, water content and undrained shear strength of
the material was made in the laboratory of the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering Ljubljana.
The results of this analysis gave an assessment on the adequacy of the terrain for building the bicycle
obstacle course.
Moreover, the thesis describes the planning of the bicycle obstacle by placing it in the area, and
tracing the ground plan and section of the course. In addition, the thesis estimates the amount of work
and materials needed for the reconstruction of the terrain. The materials needed for the construction of
the bicycle obstacle course are gravel, materials for drainage, clay for the building of the obstacle
course’s structures.
