Abstract

Title:
Preschool teachers opinion analysis on speech and language of 5–6 year-olds in Zasavje
Abstract:
In my master thesis I analyze opinion of preschool teachers about speech and language of 5–6 year-olds in Zasavje. In the theoretical part I focus on defining speech, language and communication. I focus on factors that affect speech and language development. I am also exploring speech and language development scales in preschool period. My research mainly focuses on expectations of five to six year old children about speech and language. For my research I distributed 100 evaluation sheets to 10 different preschool teachers in 2 kindergartens in Zasavje. In my research I am trying to find out differences between children from kindergarten Zagorje ob Savi and kindergarten Trbovlje. I want to find out which fields are the weakest and if there are differences between boys and girls. Results show that there are no statistically proven differences in speech, language and understanding between children from municipality Zagorje ob Savi and children from municipality Trbovlje. I found no statistically proven differences on speech and language between boys and girls. I found out that speech of boys is equally understandable as speech of girls. Results show that less girls have problem with fluency of their speech. More boys show signs of stuttering. This study has shown me fields that are less developed. I will dedicate more attention to these fields in future practice. I will also advise on games and activities for preschool teachers that stimulate speech and language of preschool children.
