Abstract

Title:Preschool children exploring forces that influence the movement of toys
Abstract:
The introductory part of the thesis summarizes the main characteristics of science and explains what it means to the child. Based on Piaget's theory, the thesis describes the preoperational stage of cognitive development that is typical for preschool children. The theoretical part describes movement, the types of toys and the forces with which the children became acquainted during the activities. As for the empirical part, it contains a survey questionnaire that provided us with information about what the children know about movement in general, the movement of toys and forces. The analysis of survey data served as the basis for the activities we devised so that the children could explore forces and their influence on the movement of toys. The children answered the survey questionnaire again after the activities were finished. Comparison of the children's answers before and after the activities is presented in the end of my thesis.
