In the thesis we study the method of digital story-telling. The method is appropriate for development of students’ skills and knowledge as creative and systematic thinking, algorithmic thinking, problem solving and collaborative learning, which are the foundation of modern pedagogical approaches. The method has been tested during the class of optional subject Computer science among students in third triad of elementary school. Program environment Mama has been chosen for method introduction. Programming in pairs has been chosen as pedagogical practice.
Visual environments are getting more and more popular with students who are coming across with programming for the first time, because they enable easier understanding and learning of programming concepts. By using program Mama students learn basic programming concepts as objects, events, loops and conditions.
The experimental use of program Mama confirmed that visional program environments are convenient for introduction of digital story-telling which enable students to get to know basic programming concepts and to use multimedia in creative way.
