With the help of two calculation methods we analyzed the operation power and the amount of electricity produced by certain Enercon wind turbines in selected locations in Vipava Valley. The calculations of average power were then performed for the E-70 E4, E2 E-82 and E-82 E3 wind turbine models.
Before the calculations and the analysis, the emergence of wind power in general and its exploitation by wind turbines were described with the help of relevant literature. Then we converted the physical formula for wind energy to wind turbine power output equation, which was later used for further analysis. In the early chapters, we presented and described the principle of wind turbine operation, division and impact on the environment and humankind. In the following chapters, we described the processes and the calculation methods for the realization of the final analysis and the used data from the technical specifications, which were taken into account in the various calculations of wind turbine properties.
For the calculations and the analysis we used the data on average and maximum wind speeds for the years 2013 and 2014 from two meteorological stations – from Bilje pri Novi Gorici and Dolenje pri Ajdovščini. The data are published on the website of the Slovenian Environment Agency.
The calculated average power ranged between 100 kW and 137 kW in Nova Gorica and between 146 kW and 186 kW in Ajdovščina. It became apparent that the frequency of wind speed measurements significantly affected the calculated values.
