This master's thesis presents my research on the development of a ultraviolet (UV) light source, which will be used in the calibrating process of the UVA irradiance meters. The thesis firstly focuses on explaining the ultraviolet radiation and specifically the artificial sources of ultraviolet radiation, which play a crucial role in comprehending the problem. In the following part, I redirect my focus on presenting the UV LEDs, which due to their unique characteristics allow for the development of the ultraviolet light source for the calibration of the UVA irradiance meters. In addition to the UV LEDs, I mention also the heat sink and the power supply which I deem crucial factors in the development of a ultraviolet light source. In the practical part of the thesis, I shift towards laboratory research. This encompasses all the measurements taken in order to calculate the radiation intensity of the ultraviolet light source and the corresponding measurement uncertainty. The obtained results present the completion of the development of the ultraviolet light source. The ultraviolet light source is thus ready for the calibration of the UVA meters.
