Nowadays media are crucial for our rapid pace of life. We can access media, which is why it is important to acknowledge their influence on children and think about positive ways to acquaint them with the use of media as early as in the preschool period. The thesis, entitled Opinons of teachers and parents on the use of media in the preschool period, consists of a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part defines the notion of media and explores the positive and negative effects of media and the impact of violent content. Moreover, it examines how the use of media is defined in the kindergarten curriculum and what is the influence of adults in media education for children. As for the empirical part, it consists of two survey questionnaires concerning the opinions of teachers and parents about using media at home and in kindergarten. A total of 50 teachers and 50 parents from Vzgojno-varstveni zavod Radovljica and the kindergarten Oton Župančič Ljubljana took part in the survey. The research indicated that both teachers and parents find that kindergartens mainly use traditional media, such as print and radio, and also modern media, such as computers. However, modern media are more common in the home environment, particularly computers and samrtphones, along with television, which is a traditional medium.
