My graduation thesis is based on analysis of nearly zero-energy building, which concept was
introduced with Energy Performance of Buildings Directive 2010/31/EU (EPBD). I have
designed and examined three different types of buildings, single family house, multiresidentual
and non-residentual building, all of which are located in Ljubljana. In the first part
of my graduation thesis I was following directions about thermal protection that are written in
»Tehnična smernica TSG-01-004: 2010 Učinkovita raba energije«, article 9. To analyze this
part I have used a computer program named TEDI. Thermal conductivity of outer building
surface elements and that of inner separating elements must not be higher than those
presented in TSG-01-004: 2010. After analysis I continued with thermal analysis of all three
buildings with a computer program named TOST and I presented and compared results with
marginal values of energy consumption. Half of the energy used must be provided from
renewable energy sources, in my case I used solar collectors and photovoltaic panels.
Analysis showed that with the use of heat pumps and exploting solar energy we could in
theory ensure that all energy that's needed for building operation in all three building types. It
turns out that energy production by photovoltaic panels is more efficient than that with solar
collectors.
