Abstract
Nadalje smo želeli opredeliti zmožnost določanja položaja s tehnologijo GNSS v listnatem gozdu v obdobju brez bujne vegetacije in pokazati prednost uporabe kombinirane GNSS in klasične terestrične izmere na območjih, kjer imamo težave z direktnim sprejemom signala GNSS.

Title:Terrain survey in the forest for evaluation of quality of hights from airborne laser scanning
Abstract:
The main purpose of this graduation thesis is the comparison of heights, gathered from two completely different procedures. First by aerial laser scanning and second by the terrain field work. We have evaluated the quality of heights on the specific area with high vegetation. For this reason we have decided to perform terrain work in the forest near Radovljica. Furthermore, we wanted to define the GNSS point determination ability in a deciduous forest in the period, excluding lush vegetation. By using combination of GNSS and classical terrestrial methods we have shown advantages of such positioning in the areas with problematic direct GNSS signals’ reception. In this particular case we can confirm the hypothesis, that GNSS positioning in deciduous forest is possible over the period with less vegetation. However, we emphasize that far more studies in different locations and times over the year should be performed to get a general assessment of the possibility of GNSS positioning in deciduous forests. From the results of height quality evaluation we can conclude, that heights from aerial laser scanning should be checked using different technologies, especially by terrain field work. At the same time this is a time consuming procedure that cannot be used in all cases where lidar heights are for wide area studies. Such a procedure of evaluation of quality of heights is used in cases, where a lower quality of results from aerial laser scanning due to the deficiencies of the technology itself is assumed.
