Svetlana Makarovič is a versatile artist, known for her collections of poems, fairy tales, chansons, and illustrations. This thesis presents her balladic fairy tales after the year 2010 and determines their elements of folk tradition and intertextuality. The thesis focuses on the analysis of five fairy tales.
The purpose is to discover whether the author uses elements of folk tradition in all five fairytales and what is the manner of its use. The theoretical part presents the author; her biography and bibliography. It also presents Marjetka Golež Kaučič, who occupied herself with the research of folk elements in the fairy tales of Svetlana Makarovič. Later on, the definitions of a fairy tale, ballad, ballad typology and the difference between folk and artificial elements, and detailed analyses of fairy tales are given.
