Likovne značilnosti grafičnih znakov v elektronski glasbi : diplomsko delo

Abstract
Države in mednarodne institucije, globalna in lokalna podjetja, športni klubi ter množica drugih organizacij svojo identiteto predstavlja tudi preko različnih simbolov oz. logotipov, s katerimi se določne interesne skupine lahko identificirajo na simbolnem nivoju. To velja tudi za izvajalce elektronske glasbe. V diplomskem delu se osredotočam na raziskovanje problematike likovnih zakonitosti oblikovanja grafičnih znakov in simbolov v elektronski glasbi. Ti simboli skupaj še z drugimi značilnostmi tvorijo celostno grafično podobo, ki je pomembna pri prepoznavnosti in preudarnosti glasbenih izvajalcev. Predstavljam jo s treh zornih kotov, ki sestavljajo posamezne dele diplomskega dela: likovno-teoretičnega, likovno-praktičnega in likovno-pedagoškega. Teoretična izhodišča, ki predstavljajo funkcijo, nastanek in razvoj oblikovanja grafičnih znakov ter analizo različnih primerov logotipov glasbenih izvajalcev do likovnih kriterijev učinkovitega oblikovanja simbolov in logotipov, so zapisana v likovno-teoretičnem delu. Analizo sem izvedla z upoštevanjem kriterijev uspešnega grafičnega znaka (enostavnost, razlikovalnost, prepoznavnost, pomnljivost, brezčasnost, berljivost, aplikabilnost, referenčnost ipd.), ki so mi pomagali tudi pri praktični izvedbi diplomskega dela, in sicer v likovno-praktičnem delu. Ta se navezuje na izdelavo mojega lastnega logotipa in celostne grafične podobe v povezavi z elektronsko glasbo, saj se z njo tudi sama ukvarjam. Na osnovi spoznanj likovno-teoretičnega dela diplomskega dela sem oblikovanje lastne celostne grafične podobe predstavila od osnovne ideje in skic do računalniške izdelave grafičnega znaka v vektorski obliki ter priročnika celostne grafične podobe. V likovno-pedagoškem delu sem zasnovala učno uro za osnovno šolo s področja oblikovanja simbola in logotipa na temo glasbe ter izvedla raziskavo s pomočjo ankete, s katero sem raziskovala odnos otrok do grafičnih znakov na področju glasbe in ugotavljala, kako pomembni so grafični znaki za prepoznavnost glasbenih izvajalcev.

Title:Art characteristics of symbols and logotypes in electronic music
Abstract:
Countries and international institutions, global and local businesses, sports clubs and many other organizations are presenting their identity through various symbols or logotypes – they can be identified with them on symbolic level. This also applies to electronic music artists. The thesis focuses on exploring the issue of artistic characteristics of designing graphical signs and symbols in electronic music. Those symbols along with other characteristics form a corporate identity, which is important for the visibility and prudence of music performers. I present it from three different angles that make up the individual parts of the thesis: art-theoretical, art-practical and art-teaching. Theoretical positions, which represent the function, creation and development in graphic design, considering signs and logos and analyze various examples of logos, that belong to musical performers with the consideration of artistic criteria of effective design for symbols and logos, are reflected in the art-theoretical part. I conducted the analysis taking into account the criteria of a successful graphic symbol (simplicity, distinctiveness, recognition, memorability, timelessness, readability, applicability, reference etc.), which helped me also in the practical execution of the thesis, in the artistic-practical part. This refers to the making of my own logo and corporate identity in conjunction with electronic music, since I’m involved with it myself. Based on the findings of art-theoretical part in the thesis, I presented the design of my own corporate image from the basic ideas and sketches to making of the graphic symbol in a vector form with the help of a computer and in the end I presented my own guide of corporate image. In the art-teaching part, I designed a lesson for elementary school in the field of graphic design, symbols and logotypes, considering the music theme and conducted a survey in which I investigated the relationship of children to graphic signs in the music field and identified the importance of graphic signs for the recognition of music performers.
