My thesis focuses on two intersections in Cerknica town, which, in my opinion, need to be renovated.
At first I describe both of them, their location and deficiencies. After that I calculate traffic loads,
acquired by a traffic count. In the next chapter I present theoretical bases of an intersection design and
junctions, written in technical specifications. Two different sorts of reconstruction are demonstrated
for each of both intersections that improve a traffic security and a traffic flow. The first one is the
rearrangement of the intersection into canalized one with an additional lane for left turning vehicles. In
the second one I change the intersection into a roundabout. Besides I evaluate which one is preferable
and check the level of traffic loads in both renovated roundabouts according to an Austrian method. At
the end of the thesis the supplements with descriptions of used road signs and carriage-way marks, and
also in a computer programme called AutoCAD made ground plans of all sorts of the rearrangement
are given.
