Thesis presents the entire chain of iron losses prediction in case of permanent magnet synchronous machine in the analysis process using finite element method. Through simulation of synchronous machine the individual phenomena that could affect the value of the power loss and accuracy of iron loss models is identified. Phenomena are further examined using samples of electrical steel sheets and compared with Bertotti and LS models. With the help of measurements the necessary coefficients are obtained and functionality of the models is demonstrated. Iron loss models are implemented in the simulation process using FEMM software in connection with the Matlab environment. Detailed analysis and measurements of magnetic behavior allow a good insight into the mechanism of ferromagnetic losses, which may facilitate in the design of electromagnetic components.
