The diploma thesis represents the current situation and the development of electrical mobility in Slovenia and worldwide. The comparison between the amount of subsidies and other incentives for the purchase of electric vehicles is interesting since the amount of the incentives does not convince people to buy electric vehicles. A general overview of electric charging stations is also given, presenting different types of charging stations regarding their ways of use and different ways of charging electric vehicles.
A review of topologies of power converters for electric vehicle charging and various power converters with associated electrical schemes and their functioning are presented in one of the main chapters.
In addition to traditional charging units, where the connection to the electric vehicle is accomplished via the contact cables, there is also an inductive charging where the transfer of energy is performed wirelessly by using a magnetic field.
In spite of the low environmental impact and high energy efficiency, electric vehicles are not used by a large number of people. The main reasons for this are the lack of charging stations as well as the lack of government and private sector investments in the electric mobility development.
