The Diploma Work, entitled The role of parents with reading in pre-school and early-age school is composed of theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part I write about literacy, kinds of literacy, reading, reading motivation and family influence on child’s reading. I also write about importance of the discussion after reading and the role of books in child’s development and future success.
The main purpose of my Diploma Work is to find out the role of parents with reading in pre-school and early-age school.
In the empirical part my focus is on parents and prepared questionnaire for them. I will analyse their answers and do the comparison between parents whose kids are in kindergarten and parents whose kids are in first grade.
The results showed that the majority of interviewed parents are aware of the importance of their roles in their child’s reading, but according to the results I think parents should be more acquainted with the importance of frequent reading within family, which leads me to suggesting some ideas which would improve the awareness of this subject.
