Abstract
Diplomsko delo z naslovom Vloga staršev pri branju v predšolskem in zgodnjem šolskem obdobju je sestavljeno iz teoretičnega in empiričnega dela. V teoretičnem delu opredeljujem pismenost, vrste pismenosti, branje, bralno motivacijo in vlogo družine pri razvijanju branja. Opisujem tudi pomen pogovora o prebranem za otroka in vlogo knjige za kasnejši razvoj in uspeh otrok. Cilj mojega diplomskega dela je ugotoviti, kakšno vlogo imajo starši pri branju otrok v predšolskem in zgodnješolskem obdobju. V empiričnem delu sem se osredotočila na starše in preko anketnega vprašalnika analizirala njihove odgovore ter naredila primerjavo med starši otrok, ki obiskujejo vrtec, in starši otrok, ki so v prvem razredu osnovne šole. Rezultati raziskave so pokazali, da so anketirani starši v večini seznanjeni s pomembnostjo svoje vloge pri razvijanju in učenju branja otrok, vendar na podlagi pridobljenih rezultatov sklepam, da bi jih bilo potrebno še bolj ozaveščati in seznanjati s pomembnostjo družinskega in vsakodnevnega branja z otroki, zato v diplomskem delu navajam predloge, s katerimi bi izboljšali seznanjenost in ozaveščenost staršev o obravnavanem področju.

Title:
The role of parents with reading in pre-school and early-age school
Abstract:
The Diploma Work, entitled The role of parents with reading in pre-school and early-age school is composed of theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part I write about literacy, kinds of literacy, reading, reading motivation and family influence on child’s reading. I also write about importance of the discussion after reading and the role of books in child’s development and future success. The main purpose of my Diploma Work is to find out the role of parents with reading in pre-school and early-age school. In the empirical part my focus is on parents and prepared questionnaire for them. I will analyse their answers and do the comparison between parents whose kids are in kindergarten and parents whose kids are in first grade. The results showed that the majority of interviewed parents are aware of the importance of their roles in their child’s reading, but according to the results I think parents should be more acquainted with the importance of frequent reading within family, which leads me to suggesting some ideas which would improve the awareness of this subject.
