The aim of the thesis is to acquaint teachers, parents as well as children with the mechanics and technology education. Just a little effort and will are needed in order to provide an opportunity for the child to reach for the right tool every day and thus develop their creative and technical skills. The objective is to prove that, given the right conditions, a 3–4 years old child is capable of testing and using the right hand tool independently regardless of gender. In the theoretical part of the thesis, we will present technology in connection with pre-school children, then we will focus on the development of children in the same age group and present the technology area where the activities will take place.
In the empirical part, we will describe the project, including the approach of introducing the technology area into the playroom as well as the activities that took place in that area. The descriptions will be accompanied by photographs which indicate the activities of children. During the research, we worked with 18 children 3–4 years old from the Kekec Kindergarten in Grosuplje. We did not want to instruct the children too much. They contributed ideas, which were noted down immediately, by themselves and then we tried them out. The emphasis was on research and the course of activities, but children also made creations. In addition, we cooperated both with parents as well as the kindergarten management and all of them provided materials and tools.
