he article presents the development of technical and especially forestry terminology in the world and in Slovenia. The results of the efforts in individual countries in the development of forestry terminology are shown. The advantages and disadvantages of the numerical and descriptor classification system, representing an important terminology source, are presented. The table lists the important sources of the world's forestry terminology, which are also accessible in the Forestry Library in Ljubljana. Chronological development of the documented Slovenian forestry terminology from its beginning (1821) until the presen! tirne is given in detail.
