The thesis discusses the blue colour as a field of artistic expression and introduction of it into the school curriculum. In the first part I have researched the theoretical aspect of blue in fine art and continued with the research of the use of blue in art throughout the historical time periods. Further on, the thesis outlines the role of blue in the tradition of various cultures and presents its symbolic meanings. Finally, the topic of physiological effect of blue colour and its psycho-diagnostic value is presented, and the theoretical part concludes with an explanation of blue in the education field.
In the author part, the thesis shows my process of making a series of paintings named »Blue« from its first ideas, the creation process, the role model and the impact of a foreign author to the moment when the series was shown at a group exhibition. I generated my own experience in theoretical and practical work within the didactic area.
