In my thesis I will work on study case about a young boy with behavioral issues. I will focus my interest on how he perceives himself, and how others look at him and perceive him. I will seek his positive sources and his strengths and also his weaknesses and obstacles he faces. I will use the word problem in social integration as synonym for his characteristics and responses of the environment to his behavior.
In theoretical part I will discuss the key areas that are important for the development of every child. I will describe the periods of middle and late childhood, and the developmental tasks that are necessary for every child. The environment where we live is also important, that is why I will look into how family influences the behavior of a child. Besides family, the second most important is school environment, which brings new demands and new expectations into life of every child. In case where a child can’t adapt to the changes the problems occur. When this happens, the children tend to have behavioral issues and do not perform as well in school as they should, they can also disturb their classmates. All children have different starting points, and so different triggers can lead to behavioral issues, from where we can see different consequences. I will focus on ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), its primary and secondary symptoms and their consequences. I will also describe the outstanding students, their characteristics and how to work with them properly.
In the empirical part I will discuss the young boy, whom I noticed immediately, because of his behavioral specifics in the group dynamic. I will explore his perception of himself (how he looks at himself), how others perceive him (classmates, teachers, consultants, parents ...). Throughout the analysis of his biography (family and school environment, relations with classmates and teachers, how he spends his free time, his interest and plans for the future) I will find his strengths and weaknesses. With that, I hope I will contribute to a formation of a study plan for his individual and group learning.
