We assessed the extent to which the pressing process affects the density profile of the particle board, and its mechanical properties. 6 particle boards were produced, quite equal as regard their structure; just the pressing process was variable. Density profile was measured using an apparatus to measure the vertical distribution of volume by mass. In addition to the density profile, the bending properties and internal bond of the panels were tested. We found out that a lower pressure of compression gives a high density particle board; that there exist a correlation between central density and internal bond; and that the bending strength not only affects the surface density but also a central density of the particle board.
