The article defines basic concepts of terminology and describes onomasiological procedures, seen as an alternative to borrowing from foreign languages. Two competing Slovene terms for public relations are discussed from the linguistic point of view, whereby also their content is taken into consideration. A further distinction is made between the proper term and its jargon synonym. The usage of some terms in Slovene scientific texts is then compared to the usage on the Slovene Government web pages. The comparison shows considerable differences as well as lack of jargo's proper term distinction. The need of constant cooperation between the linguistic and the public relations sciences is stressed, both in terminology formation and in the process of education, especially at the university level.
