Having analyzed the present geopolitical position and security policy of Slovenia, the author reviewed the existing options for protecting Slovenia's national security at the individual and group levels. He argues that Sloveniannational security cannot be adequately protected otherwise than in a viable system of collective defense. He found that OUN, OSCE and EU lack relevant capabilities. The author concludes that the only viable system of collective defense in Euroatlantic space is to be found in NATO and argues in favor of this solution for Slovenia.
