The problem of explaning conversion into alternative religions is present in European and American science for more than a century. With the appearance of the brain washing model in the second half of the 20th century, the conversion became even a contradictory populist topic. However, in last two decades as the model of brainwashing lost its importance due to the inadequate argumentation, the process model became predominant. Thus far there are only few examples of application of the brainwashing model in Slovenia. Therefore, it is necessary to research the process models and reflect the possible application of that model into the alternative religions.
