Drying of particles is one of the important phases at production of particleboards. Factors as: type of dryer, inlet and outlet moisture of particles, inlet and outlet temperature of material, inlet and outlet relative humidity of heating medium, inlet and outlet temperature of heating medium have influence on drying. Reducing of inlet moisture could be achieved with the help of a large storage for wood raw material. In this way the consumption of energy for drying particles could also be diminished. Therefore, the influence of moisture content of wood on energy consumption at drying of particles was studied. Wood raw material previously stored 12, and the other 2, months was dried in a rotary dryer. It was found out that the first needed less energy for drying, its load of fuel was a lot lower, its mass flux increased, while its input and output temperature lowered. Moisture content of humid particles had no influence on moisture content of dried particles.
