The purpose of chemical wood preservation is described herein. Additionally, the classical and novel biocides are briefly introduced. The biocides are divided onto inorganic and organic ones. Furthermore, future trend on these field are described. Environmentally acceptable solutions for wood preservation are particularly elucidated. The most import rule that has to be considered today is the fact that chemical wood preservation is needed only, for the purposes where wood cannot be protected by with other solutions.
