For multiple real estate owners such as the City municipality of Maribor it is important to have a good overview on the status in the evidences (cadastre) and legal status of land, buildings and parts of the buildings. This is of high importance in particular for their optimal management. It is also legally bounded to have data on all national and municipality real properties collected in the central real property database. For this purpose, the real properties for recreation and sport facilities of the City municipality of Maribor has been chosen as the study case, for which available data have been collected. The data have been arranged and stored in the real property information system, which has been developed for this purpose. This system is entirely based on open source program components and allows viewing data, save storing and controlled editing and maintenance in general. Open source solutions in comparison to commercial applications drastically lower the costs needed for software purchasing and maintenance. In addition, they provide better environment for adoption of solutions to your own needs. We have found out, that most of real properties from the study case, land as well as buildings, are not proper evidenced in the cadastre. For some of the real properties bigger procedures in the sense of land cadastre or building cadastre entry (fixing parcel boundaries, committing the first entries in the building cadastre) are needed, for others only smaller changes are needed (wrong entry for use).
