Present bachelor's thesis studies changes in basic and detailed land use in the municipalities of Mengeš and Komenda in Slovenia focusing on changes between municipal medium-term social plans (hereafter PS SDPO) and municipal spatial plans (hereafter OPN). Firstly overview of spatial planning legislation from 1984 until today is given. All data used in analysis is topologically arranged before the analysis. Comparison of basic land use areas of the two municipalities between PS SDPO (2004) and OPN (2013) is made and the changes are given in hectares and percentages. Analysis of detailed land use changes is performed for places belonging to both municipalities based again on PS SDPO (2004) and OPN (2013). Data is processed and analyzed in ArcGIS 10.2 and results are given in figures and maps. It is found that the share of residential areas in both communities has increased, in Mengeš municipality at the cost of agricultural land and in Komenda municipality at the cost of forest land.
