The geodetic measurements in exploratory gallery of Šentvid tunnel were carried out with the intention of finding out the movements of control (detail) points, which are caused by main tunnel excavations. To get optimal movements of the control points it is important to define the station point with optimal precision. For this purpose thesis work is dealing with optimisation of geodetic measurements. In surveying the optimisation of measurements is carried out to assure some criteria. The criterion and the basic aim of thesis is to define such measurements' weights that their inclusion in adjustment causes the ellipsoid of station point to become a sphere. Therefore with a programme Matlab 7.0 adjustment of station coordinates and second order optimisation were carried out. For optimisation a method of direct solution was chosen which basic characteristic is criterion matrix. In the end the optimisation of measurements of the main tunnel was added. In both - exploratory gallery and main tunnel - determinations of optimal station coordinates we came to a conclusion that angle measurements have greater importance during measuring than measurements of length. Another important ascertainment was that the points near station point are more important than points far from station point. With optimisation some other contents are included in thesis: division of tunnels, basic characteristics of Šentvid tunnel, rock mass classification, New Austrian Tunnelling Method, realization and processing with geodetic measurements and quality of geodetic networks.
