The thesis deals with the mathematical basics of virtual globes, sets of spatial data associated with them, and their technology of acquisition. Structure of virtual globes and their related data layers are presented in Google Earth case, while other virtual globes with emphasis on the Slovenian product Gaea +, are presented, too.
Open Source were used to produce the final product - online web API, containing three-dimensional models of museums located in Zreče community are presented. These models have been modelled with the SketchUp tool and uploaded to the 3D Warehouse online models library.
In the final stage two ways to display three-dimensional models are presented, the first is Google Earth application and second through the website using API technology.
