The expansion of modern electronics usage has led to mass production and use of sensitive electronic components. In the production or servicing delicate electronic components, those engaged in the process are often faced with phenomena that arise as a result of electrostatic and electrostatic discharge.
In my diploma thesis I presented the problem of electrostatics from the way of its formation to the occurrence of electrostatic discharge. The latter occurs between two different electrical potentials through a substance. I also described what kind of damage can electrostatic discharge cause to sensitive electronic components. I introduced measures against the occurrence of electrostatic charge. Especially I focused on the questions of what materials and tools should be used in ESD protected areas and the procedures that must be carried out by staff, which is in contact with sensitive electronic components.
In the practical part of the thesis I reviewed the company, which is engaged in the repair of mobile devices, and considered the practical situation in the area to prevent electrostatic discharge. I performed multiple measurements of electrostatic field strength E and earth resistance Rg with instruments EMG51 and Metriso 2000. According to my measurements I suggested improvements for the microscope and suggestions concerning the use of boxes and packaging bags.
