The thesis presents the procedures for obtaining the CE mark for measuring instruments at the example of an electric meter. For obtaining the certificate of conformity, the knowledge of the directive for each country, where the measuring instrument is on the marketI, is necessary. EU members have the advantage that they contain standardized regulations for the EU market, so it is not necessary to perform any additional tests. For the electric meter it is determined that the manufacturers should follow the modules B+D or B+F or H1. In most cases manufacturers choose B+D and this is the module presented in this thesis. The standards observed by the notified body for testing electric meters are EN 50470-1: 2005, EN 50470-2: 2005, EN 50470-3: 2005. At the end the thesis also presents a few tests, which we have checked to determine whether the product is in compliance with the required standards.
