Statistična analiza indeksa uspešnosti košarkarskih igralcev PIR

Košarkarski indeks uspešnosti PIR (Performance Index Rating) je formula, ki se pogosto uporablja za ocenjevanje kakovosti košarkarjeve igre. Analiza kvalitete indeksa PIR je bila izvedena na podatkih o klubih in igralcih, ki so sodelovali v ligi ABA zadnjih trinajst sezon. Za pobiranje podatkov iz uradne spletne strani lige ABA je bilo narejeno strgalo dokumentov v obliki HTML. Za lažjo uporabo podatkov v analizi je bila zgrajena podatkovna baza PostgreSQL. V statistični analizi indeksa PIR je bilo preverjeno ali nanj vplivajo košarkarjeva višina, pozicija ali starost ter ali obstaja povezava med uspešnostjo kluba in njegovim povprečnim indeksom PIR.

Abstract

Performance Index Rating (PIR) is a basketball statistical formula that is commonly used for evaluation of basketball players. Quality analysis of index PIR was made on the statistical data of teams and basketball players who played in the ABA league for the last thirteen seasons. A HTML scraper was made for scraping data from the official ABA league website. A PostgreSQL database was built for easier use of data. With statistical analysis of index PIR we explored if basketball player's height, position, or age have influence on his index PIR and if there is a connection between a team's success and it's index PIR.
