Abstract
Za zaščito lesa pred glivami in insekti moramo uporabiti kemična sredstva, ki čim bolj prepojijo les. V praksi te pripravke najpogosteje nanašamo s premazovanjem. Zavedamo se, da premazovanje ni najbolj učinkovita oblika zaščite, čeprav v nam dostopni literaturi še nismo zasledili podatka, koliksno zaščito sploh predstavlja premazovanje. Da bi osvetlili ta problem, smo izdelali vzorce iz zračno suhe smrekovine dimenzij 2,5 cm * 2,5 cm * 5 cm in vanje iz čelne smeri zavrtali luknje, v katere smo vstavili lesene palčke. Čelne površine smo zatesnili z epoksidnim premazom. Vzorce smo nato površinsko zaščitili z različnimi zaščitnimi sredstvi in jih po fiksaciji sredstva izpostavili delovanju lesnih gliv. V določenih časovnih obdobjih smo iz vzorcev odstranili palčke in jih v sterilnih pogojih postavili na hranilno gojišče ter opazovali, ali so hife vzniknile ali ne. Naši rezultati nakazujejo da površinska zaščita ne nudi zadostne zaščite pred glivami; po drugi strani pa se postavlja vprašanje, ali je bila uporabljena metoda primerna za določanje učinkovitosti zaščitnih pripravkov.

Title:Influence of biocidal surface coatings on penetration of hyphae into sprucewood : visokošolski strokovni študij
Abstract:
To protect wood against wood decay fungi and insects, wood preservatives that fully penetrate into wood, need to be applied. In practice, wood preservatives are applied only by brushing. Such preservation is considered insufficient, but there are no literature data about fungicidal effectiveness of such a procedure. Small holes were drilled into specimens (2.5 cm * 2.5 cm * 5 cm), made of Norway spruce sapwood, for this issue. Small sticks were introduced into these specimens and axial surfaces were sealed with epoxy coating. Longitudinal surfaces of the specimens were afterwards surface treated with 4 different commercial wood preservatives,and exposed to 3 different wood decay fungi. In defined time periods, the sticks were isolated from the specimens and transferred to petri dishes with nutrient medium. Afterwards we observed, whether hyphae germinated or not. Our results indicate that surface protection with biocides is not sufficient against wood decay fungi. On the other hand, there was only 1 test applied, and we are not certain if the optimal procedure for estimation of fungal colonization was used.
