Abstract

Abstract:
The text analyses the enforcement of special economic zones policies in the economic development strategies of most countries around the world. The discussion describes the use of China's economic growth model in India along with the social and environmental risks brought by the effects of liberalisation. A quantitative analysis supported by statistical centres and international organisations is used in the research. In addition, qualitative field research was conducted between August and November 2007 in India. Economic growth (or desire) that does not form part of broader development strategies involves high risks which seriously jeopardise the quality of life of current and future generations.
