Abstract

Abstract:
Woody biomass production with short rotation forestry under certain conditionsis economically attractive and enviromentally acceptable. Phydiologically it is based on rapid culmination ot the mean annual increamentof the stands; economically it is based on a quick capital return, compimentarity with agricultural production and the potency of biomass production near the consumers. With measurements on selected sites it was intend to prove if the yeald of woody biomass is higher under conditions of short rotation forestry as by traditional managed forests. The results of measurements were compared with the results in foreign references. Two selected tree species (Robinia pseudoacacia and Populus tremula) that would besuitable for short rotation forestry in Slovenia proved the thesis of biggeryealds of woody biomass, achieved by short rotation forestry. The results were comparable with published foreign references.
