Abstract

Title:Economic cooperation between China and Latin American countries in the 21st century
Abstract:
This thesis explores the development of economic cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and the countries of Latin America, which gained significant momentum in the early 21st century. The focus is placed on analyzing the reasons behind the strengthening of bilateral relations, the key sectors of cooperation, as well as the geopolitical and economic implications of this partnership. Particular attention is devoted to China ’s interests, which lie primarily in access to natural resources and the expansion of political influence. The practical dimensions of cooperation are illustrated through the case study of Brazil and soybean production. Faced with growing demand for soybeans, China has found a reliable partner in Brazil, which is one of the three key global suppliers of this economically significant crop. However, the case study also reveals the negative consequences of such intensive cooperation, particularly in terms of environmental degradation. In the final chapter, the thesis addresses the question of whether the relationship represents mutual benefit or a new form of dependency. The findings suggest that despite some advantages, a more balanced approach will be necessary in the future to support the developmental goals of both sides.
