The doctoral thesis, The Relationship Between Succession on Mountain Farms in Slovenia and their Socio-Geographical Structure, is based on the ascertainments that, due to the multifunctionality of agriculture, mountain farms are the most important element of the cultural landscape in mountain areas, and that, since the majority of them are family farms, their development and existence depends on succession. As it was ascertained that farm succession is influenced by various factors, the doctoral thesis examineshow the factors of the socio-geographical structure of mountain farms influence farm succession status and decisions, as well the timing of succession. For the surveyed mountain farms in Slovene alpine and subalpine areas, the hypothesized influences were researched on the basis of discrete choice models. The results were compared to and linked with findings of Slovene and foreign researchers, as well as farmers´ opinions and considerations. Due to the fact that the Slovene mountain farm succession probability model formed was linked with data from the Slovene Agricultural Census of 2000, the doctoral thesis has an important applicative value.
