Abstract
Uporabljene ključne besede pri iskanju so bile radiographer, pediatric patients, distractions, interaction, communication, compassion, pediatrics, paediatrics, children, verbal interaction, waiting room/rooms, education, presence of parents,. Razprava in zaključek: Delo z otroki zahteva individualno prilagojen pristop dela pri katerem moramo upoštevati pomembnost ustrezne komunikacije z otrokom in starši/skrbniki.

Title:Improving radiological practices in pediatrics: guidelines and recommendations : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Pediatric radiology is a field within general radiology that focuses on diagnostic imaging of children. It is important to understand that children are not just diminished adults and that they need to be addressed at their level. Working with children requires an open mind, patience, creativity, a desire to learn and the ability to see the world through the eyes of a child. Purpose: The aim of the thesis was to systematically review the existing literature for the analysis of current approaches in radiological diagnostics in working with children. We focused on the communication of radiological technologist with children and how to calm the child and prepare them for cooperation during the investigation. We looked at factors that affect the child such as surroundings, waiting room, parents/guardians and space. Part of the thesis was also devoted to the education of radiological technologist in the field of pediatrics in Slovenia and worldwide. Methods: We used a systematic literature review using a descriptive method. Literature was obtained in scientific articles and books. We searched for scientific articles in electronic databases such as Elsevier, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, SpringerLink, SageJournals. The search for articles took place from November 2023 to March 2024. The keywords used were radiographer, pediatric patients, distractions, interaction, communication, compassion, pediatrics, paediatrics, children, verbal interaction, waiting room/rooms, education, presence of parents,. We included fully accessible articles in Englihs language, published between 2013 and 2024 Results: We included 14 articles in the analysis, which were sorted into tables according to objectives and according to the author, year of publication, data on participants, methods, purpose of the research and their findings. The articles covered research in the field of communication, the impact of the environment and parents on the child, and the education of radiological technologist in pediatrics. Discussion and conclusion: Working with children requires an individually tailored approach in which we must take into account the importance of proper communication with the child and parents or guardians. Environmental factors, the presence of parents and the experience and knowledge of a radiological technologist working with children also influence the contact and cooperation of the child. These factors vary mainly depending on the child’s cognitive development and level of understanding. We found that working in pediatrics requires additional knowledge, dealing with the child and acquired through appropriate education.
