The article explains the recent spatial conditions and processes in Austrian Carinthia and analyzes the position of the Slovenian minority in the conditions of the postmodern social stage. A minority is a social group whose number has decreased over the decades due to assimilation. This was triggered, on the one hand, by targeted assimilation measures and, on the other hand, by a number of factors in the social environment. We study how and to what extent the characteristics of spatial structures and people's lifestyles in postmodern society can affect members of the minority.
