Abstract
Peta generacija mobilnih tehnolgij (5G) je s seboj prinesla mnogo tehnoloških napredkov. Z mnogokrat hitrejšimi prenosnimi hitrostmi v primerjavi s četrto generacijo (4G), boljšo zanesljivostjo, manjšo zakasnitvjo in večjo gostoto števila povezanih naprav, imajo omrežja 5G potencial transformirati mnoge industrijske panoge. Ključni izzivi v 5G so zagotavljanje zadostnih varnostnih ukrepov, varnost standardov, zaščita dobavnih verig in varnost v zvezi z napravami končnih uporabnikov.

Title:Cybersecurity in 5G networks
Abstract:
The fifth generation of mobile technologies (5G) has brought many technological advancements. With significantly faster transmission speeds compared to the fourth generation (4G), improved reliability, lower latency, and higher density of connected devices, 5G networks have the potential to transform many industrial sectors. However, with new technological advancements come new security challenges, making cybersecurity in 5G more important than ever before. Key challenges in 5G include ensuring adequate security measures, the security of standards, protection of supply chains, and the security of end-user devices. The thesis initially addresses the key features and technologies of 5G networks, which introduce new surfaces for cyberattacks. It then presents general types of cyberattacks and best protection practices, divided into five phases, along with security mechanisms related to these phases. The concluding section focuses on standards and recommendations for ensuring security in a 5G environment, highlighting perspectives from various organizations, such as 3GPP and ENISA. Finally, the thesis offers security recommendations for enterprises.
