The objective of this thesis was to develop a system for monitoring and controlling microclimatic conditions in the composting process of invasive alien species. For this purpose, I used five temperature and five moisture sensors, which were connected to a Siemens CPU 1214C programmable logic controller (PLC). The system was implemented at the company SIMBIO, where it was tested and optimized for managing the microclimatic conditions in a composting unit. The thesis first covers the theoretical basics of sensors, control systems, and communication protocols such as Modbus. Then, I detailed the implementation process, including establishing communication between the sensors and the controller, programming the control system, and visualizing data using the HMI 700 Comfort user interface.
