The thesis focuses on the redesign of the website and a mobile application for the Club of Tržič Students (KTŠ) using user-centered design. The aim of the research is to improve the user experience and user interface of both platforms, with the goal of providing a unified visual identity and increasing traffic.
In the theoretical part, we explored the importance of user experience and user interface, the significance of student clubs in Slovenia, the importance of visual hierarchy, and the impact of color and typography on the perception of websites and applications.
Before designing the prototype, we analyzed the existing products and the competition. We then conducted a survey to understand the needs and desires of users. This was followed by defining personas, planning the user experience, and designing the information architecture. In the prototype design phase, we first created a wireframe and then added images and text. Our knowledge from the theoretical part of the thesis helped us in choosing the typography and colors. We also considered the preferences of the client (the president of KTŠ) and the survey respondents. We prepared the illustrations and graphic elements ourselves. The website and application were designed in Figma.
The results of the website evaluation showed optimal clarity and visual hierarchy, while the evaluation of the application showed that two sections were not rated with an optimal score. In the usability evaluation, all participants completed all assigned tasks without any issues. All of them rated the prototypes as more aesthetic and functional than the original ones.
The outcome of the thesis is a prototype of a mobile application and website that improves upon the previous versions. Users find the new design more visually appealing, and the user interface more understandable, organized, and usable, making it easier for them to achieve their needs and goals.
