The master focuses on counselling older adults in the context of older adult education. The main
purpose of the master’s thesis is to contribute to developing the counselling system for older
adults at the university.
The theoretical part defines the key concepts: longevity, ageing society, age and ageing, older
people's attitudes towards information and communication technology (ICT) and the field of
counselling for older adults.
The empirical part of the research follows a qualitative research paradigm. A case study was
used to focus on the practice of ICT counselling for older adults, which is implemented within
the Blue Faculty at the University of Ljubljana. Data were collected through interviews,
participant observation and document analysis. The research aimed to identify the key elements
and the links between the elements of counselling older adults. The findings are presented using
A Multilevel Model of Older Adults’ Appropriation of ICT and Acquisition of Digital Literacy,
developed by Eija Kärnä et al. (2022). The result of the research is a new model of
individualized intergenerational content-based counselling for older adults, which can help plan
and implement counselling for older adults.
