A Slovene adaptation of the choreopoem for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf by Ntozake Shange This Master’s thesis is an attempt to translate the iconic choreopoem for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf by African-American author Ntozake Shange into Slovenian. The thesis begins with an overview of the genesis of the choreopoem, which serves as the basis for my translation approaches, described in the following section. This is followed by the translation or rather adaptation or “version” of the choreopoem into Slovene. Some of the translation conundrums and their solutions are described in the endnotes on the pages after the translation. I have sought to create a “version” (in Novak's terminology) rather than a translation in order to avoid a potentially offensive on stage performance in the future.

Slovenska prepesnitev koreopesmi Ntozake Shange for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf Ta magistrska naloga je poskus slovenske prepesnitve kultne koreopesmi for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf afroameriške avtorice Ntozake Shange. Naloga se prične s pregledom geneze koreopesmi, ki služi kot podlaga in pomoč pri odločitvah glede prevajalskih prijemov, ki so opisani v sledečem poglavju. Temu sledi prevod oziroma raje adaptacija oziroma prepesnitev koreopesmi v slovenščino. Nekatere prevajalske zagate in njihove rešitve so opisane v opombah na straneh po prevodu. Namen ustvarjanja (po Novakovi terminologiji) prepesnitve in ne prevoda je, da bi se lahko izognili potencialno žaljivi uprizoritvi v prihodnosti.
