The thesis is about how digitization affects the reading process of elementary school students. In the first part, we defined the concept of digitization and its impact on the psychological processes of reading. In the following, we also presented reading literacy and linked it to the achievements of Slovenian elementary school students on international tests. In the empirical work, we used the method of systematic review of the literature, with which we obtained nine units of literature that corresponded to all the research criteria. We asked ourselves three research questions. Most of the contributions related to the negative consequences of digitization, which are reflected in the reading of elementary school students, which is also confirmed by the theoretical background that we presented. Only one paper reported on the positive consequences of digitization on reading, which states that a higher level of digital reading ability and the early use of ICT devices in childhood are positively related. Three papers reported on the impact of the digitization process through the use of a computer application on reading and learning motivation in the initial acquisition of reading skills among younger elementary school students, while digitalization has no effect on the reading motivation of older elementary school students.
